Studies on the tensile properties of spherical amalgam.

چکیده
Ever since the adoption by American Dental Association in 1929 of test specification of dental amalgam alloys as A. D. A. specification No. 1 [ 1 ], many studies have been successively carried out on the physical, chemical, mechanical and clinical properties as manipulative variable affecting clinical results of this widely used restorative material. Amalgam has come to account for nearly 75% usage among various restorative materials by the dental clinicians of today [2], attesting to its importance and ease in handling. Despite this wide usage, however, many reports are published on the failure cases of amalgam restorations by such investigators as HEALEY and PHILLIPS [3], SEINO [4], FUSAYAMA et al. [5], SAIJO [6], HABU et al. [7], and WILSON and RYGE [8]. Although it is generally accepted that most of the failures are attributed to inadequate cavity preparation and unsatisfactory amalgam manipulation, it was pointed out by NAGAI et al. [ 9 ] that the failure should be also sought in the innate characteristics of dental amalgam itself.

INVESTIGATING THE PHYSICAL AND MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF HIGH-COPPER AND SILVER DENTAL-FILLING AMALGAM ALLOYS
Abstract: The aim of the present investigation is to study the physical and mechanical characteristics of dental-filling spherical high-copper and silver amalgams and to compare them with a common high-copper domestic unicompositional amalgam. In this study, cylindrical specimens were mechanically condensed according to the ISO 1559:1986 Standard in order to measure the compressive strength, Vi...
متن کاملStudies on the Manipulative Factors that have Important Effects on the Tensile Strength of Amalgam by
The physical properties of amalgam are influenced by various manipulative factors such as mercury-alloy ratio, mixing time, existence of a ball in the capsule in the process of mixing, condensation pressure and the twisting movement given to the amalgam mix by the plugger in the process of condensation[1-8]. These factors, on the whole, determine the properties of amalgam restorations. It is cl...
متن کاملTHE EFFECT OF ADDING TiO2 NANOPARTICLES ON DENTAL AMALGAM PROPERTIES
Abstract:In recent years, there have been many attempts to improve the properties of dental amalgam. The aim of the present investigation was fabrication and characterization of dental amalgams containing TiO2 nanoparticles and evaluation of their compressive strength, antibacterial and corrosion behavior. In this experimental research, TiO2 nanoparticles (TiO2 NPs) were added to reference amal...
متن کاملمقایسه ریزنشت با استفاده از سه نسل مختلف مواد چسبنده به عاج در ترمیمهای آمالگام High copper اسفریکال ایرانی
Background and Aim: Amalgam is one of the mostly used restorative materials, but has some disadvantages. Microleakage is one of the short comings of amalgam which may lead to sensitivity and recurrent caries. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of three dentin bonding systems on reduction of microleakage in amalgam restorations. Materials and Methods: Class II amalgam restorations...
متن کاملLaboratory Studies of the Effect of Recycled Glass Powder Additive on the Properties of Polymer Modified Asphalt Binders
In this paper, the effect of adding recycled glass powder (RGP) as a third component in polymer modified bitumen is studied. RGP and styrene butadiene rubber (SBR) is added to the base bitumen in order to prepare modified binders and mixtures. The initial study is performed to determine physical properties of unmodified, SBR modified and RGP-SBR modified asphalt binders which prove RGP's compat...
